As an author, I'm probably going to make a lot of enemies here. #SorryNotSorry.
If you want a copy of my books and can't or don't want to pay for them, message me and I'll send you them for free. No static. Guaranteed.
What's more important?
0%Eating and paying the bills
0%Buying a new book
I don't think anyone should ever have to ask that question, especially about one of my books. Hence my promise. I don't care if I become the next J.K. Rowling, I'll keep that promise until I die. You want it, you can have it.
Is piracy wrong?
Absolutely. As an independently published author, I don't get paid if people don't buy my book. Fact. A lot of work goes into putting a book together. I think the easy part for me is writing the damn thing. The hard part is everything that comes afterward.
Am I going to shun you for it?
Not a chance. I get it. I was raised by a single mom in the poor side of town. I didn't play my first video game until I was in my twenties because my mom couldn't afford the consoles. We never went hungry, but we didn't have a lot of extra.
There were times in college when I couldn't afford the $400 textbook for a class. So I bought the book, scanned the necessary pages and returned it. And I felt awful about it, but you know what? I ate that quarter, too.
Now I'm in a financial position where writing is a pleasure. If I make some cash, that's great. But what's more important to me? Sharing my stories with people who want to read them.
So again... If you want my books, just ask. I'll bet other authors would be willing to do the same too.
Be kind, my friends. Happy reading!
